A set of charities, collectively referred to as The Greenwich Charities. The Charities provide small grants of money to persons, who are in need or suffering hardship or distress, for the relief of poverty. This might be payment for an unexpected telephone bill or for clothing.

The Charity of Charles Soames provides or pays for items to alleviate suffering of those who are sick, convalescent, disabled, handicapped or infirm.

Who can apply?

Residents living within the postcodes SE10, SE3, SE7, SE13 and SE8 whose council tax is paid to The Royal Borough of Greenwich might be eligible. Alternatively, an organisation that supports residents within these boundaries could apply to the charities. Email or write to us with your full postal address and we can confirm whether you fall within the boundaries of the charities.

How can I apply?

Write to the trustees explaining your circumstances, including the amount of money that you are requesting, what it is for and why it is needed. Provide your full name, address and contact details. If you have a supporting social worker, please also provide their name and contact details.
